Is there evidence to argue that Clara loved Ferula more than Esteban?

  1. I don't think that Clara necessarily loved Ferula more than Esteban at any point. Clara respected Ferula more than her husband because she felt bad for her since she took care of her mother all of her life while Esteban was off on his own selfish adventures. I think that Clara is with Esteban because that is what she sees fit and she saw this in her future and is happy now that she has kids that she loves and cares about. I think that she loves Esteban, but not passionately or willingly. She is indifferent towards him but she cares about him more than she would about a random person on the street. I think that there is evidence to argue that Ferula loved Clara more than Esteban, but not that Clara loved Ferula more than Esteban.

  2. Clara usually seems indifferent, so it can be hard to tell when she truly loves someone or not, but I do believe she loved Ferula more. I think the main evidence for this is that when Esteban kicks Ferula out of the house, Clara puts up a fight about it. He pretty much shuts her in her room while he yells at Ferula, but rather than just letting his rage slide over her like usual, Clara spends a period of time banging on the door and protesting his actions. She also immediately tries to find Ferula, even resorting to average methods like asking around town. She comes out of her spiritual plane of existence just to find Ferula.

  3. I agree with Rebecca. Clara seems pretty much indifferent about most of her relationships. We know that Clara not does care for Esteban, and she shows more love towards Ferula. We see this when Clara and Ferula sleep together. This scene shows that Clara loves Ferula more than Esteban because allowing someone to sleep with you is an act of trust and love. While she does not show a ton of love towards her, it is definitely more than she shows to Esteban.

  4. I think that Clara loves Ferula more than Esteiban. Although Clara is generally indifferent towards relationships with other people, Ferula has shown consistent kind ess towards Clara, often in contrast with Esteban's verbal abuse. The fact that Clara went and looked for Ferula after she left indicates that she cared for her.

  5. It's always hard to tell what clara really feeels, but i think its evident that she does love her more than esteban. Just all the things that estaban put clara through really lead to a diconnect towards the end of her life. Plus Rebecca makes a great point with estaban throwing her out of the house. He was jealous because her and clara were closer than he was so he threw his sister out of the house. Claras reaction made it even more evident.
